Founded in 1976, the Toronto International Film Festival has become one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world. Variety magazine acknowledged that “the Festival is second only to Cannes in terms of high-profile pics, stars and market activity.”

Working closely with the Toronto International Film Festival Group, we created a new masterbrand – TIFF – to more accurately capture the energetic spirit of the organization as well as the celebratory nature of the film festival itself.

The approachable and friendly visual language for the new TIFF identity centered around the fact that the festival was nicknamed “the people’s film festival” because its inclusionary nature to all film lovers and has always had a very high number of volunteers during the run of the film festival. We created an identity that reflected the human quality to the festival, paired it with energetic graphic patterns and a bright orange color palette to stand out from the other film festivals in the circuit.
